Did you know that man is made up of a material and immaterial part? One day, your physical body will die and be buried in the ground. But the immaterial part, or your spiritual part, will go
Hebrews 9:27 says "And as it is appointed unto men once to die, but after this the judgment."
What determines where you will go and what are the options? Your destination will not be decided by an act of randomness, but by a decision you make during this life. You get to decide where your spirit goes after death.
What are the options?
Jesus says in Mark 9:47: "It is better for thee to enter into the kingdom of God with one eye, than having two eyes to be cast into hell fire." Jesus Himself said that there are only two destinations after death: the kingdom of God, or heaven, and the place the Bible calls Hell.
How long will I stay there?
Jesus said in Matthew 25:46: "And these shall go away into everlasting punishment: but the righteous into life eternal." Wherever your soul goes, it will be there for eternity. It will be there without end. There will be no escape from either heaven or hell, once your spirit, or soul, is there.
What does the Bible say about each of these places?
The Bible describes heaven as a place where God is. There, the inhabitants enjoy His presence in His light. Revelation 21:4 says, "God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes; and there shall be no more death, neither sorrow, nor crying, neither shall there be any more pain: for the former things are passed away." The Bible describes hell as a place of torment where those abandoned by God will dwell. Revelation 14:10 says, "The same shall drink of the wine of the wrath of God, ...and he shall be tormented with fire and brimstone in the presence of the holy angels, and in the presence of the Lamb."
